In short: legalisation is too important to do as an afterthought
Installing solar panels is one thing. Registering them legally is another — and just as important. We deliberately hand that part to specialist engineers and gestorías who do nothing but legalisation. That way it’s done quickly, correctly and to the latest standards — and it doesn’t become neglected paperwork that sits for months.
What legalisation actually involves
After the fitting, your installation has to be arranged officially. That’s more than a single form:
- the memoria técnica (up to 10 kW) or the proyecto técnico (over 10 kW);
- the boletín / CIE — the electrical certificate;
- registration with Industria for your region;
- entry in the autoconsumo register;
- the application for the compensación — the payment for the electricity you feed back.
Each step has its own rules, deadlines and forms. These differ by region and change regularly.
What goes wrong if this is done carelessly
Here lies exactly the risk many people don’t see. An installation that isn’t — or is wrongly — legalised can hit you hard later:
- Fines — an unlegalised installation can bring a fine of hundreds to thousands of euros, and in the worst case it may even have to come back down.
- Selling your home — an installation that isn’t on the register is a problem at sale: buyers demand it be legalised first, and it can knock the value.
- Your insurance — without the right paperwork, you’re on weak ground with a claim.
- No payment — without registration you get no compensación for the electricity you feed back, and you miss out on subsidies.
An installation that’s technically fine but not right on paper will still cause you bother years later. That’s why we treat the legalisation as a fixed part of the job — not a side issue.
