What a home battery with Solarfit involves

Using more of your own sunshine, less of the grid — and power when the grid goes down.

Enphase IQ home battery for storing solar power

How it works

Keep your surplus until you need it

Your panels generate most when you're out during the day. A home battery keeps that surplus and gives it back in the evening — just what you want on the Costa Blanca, where the air-conditioning and pool pump run into the night. Feeding back earns little in Spain (below the market price), so using it yourself is far better value than feeding it back. And if the grid goes down — as it did in the big outage of 2025 — the battery keeps your home running. A battery made to measure, matched to your panels and your charging point.

  • More self-use — feeding back barely pays in Spain
  • Backup in a power cut (apagón)
  • Pool and air-conditioning in the evening on your own sunshine
  • A battery made to measure, working with your panels and charging point

How we fit your home battery

A battery goes with your solar system — new or on your existing panels. We match it to your system remotely; if we installed your panels, we already know it, otherwise a technician visits before installation.

A phone call about a home battery

Call us and we'll pick up your enquiry straight away; enquire online and we'll ring you back — always in English. We look at your consumption and your panels — new or already there — and work out which battery capacity pays off for you. How much of your own solar power you want to use in the evening, and whether you'd like backup in a cut, sets the size. With a few photos of your consumer unit and your inverter we prepare your quote, without anyone needing to visit yet.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we're asked most about a home battery.

Is a home battery worth it?

That depends on your consumption — which is why we work it out concretely for you. The gain is in self-use — you store your cheap daytime solar power and use it in the evening, when grid power is dear. The more you use at home in the evening, the faster a battery pays for itself, and the less you're at the mercy of shifting energy prices.

How long does a home battery last, and what's the warranty?

A modern home battery typically lasts 10 to 15 years — they're built for thousands of charge and discharge cycles. There's usually around a 10-year manufacturer's warranty, often with a capacity warranty so your battery still holds a large share of its storage after those years. We always tell you the exact warranty of the battery that suits you.

Is a home battery safe?

Yes. The home batteries we fit meet strict safety standards and are very stable. We also install them in a safe, well-ventilated spot, so you can use them for years without a worry.

Can I add more capacity later?

Often, yes. Many of the batteries we fit are modular, so you can add capacity later as your consumption grows — for a heat pump or an electric car, say. Together we choose a system that can grow with your plans.
