In short: SMA is German quality at its best — and we supply it as one system with the SMA home battery

SMA is German quality at its best — for more than twenty years the reference among inverters, a German quality brand with over 30 years’ experience — and we deliberately supply it as one matched system: the inverter together with the SMA home battery. On single-phase that’s the Sunny Boy Smart Energy (3.6–6 kW), on three-phase the Sunny Tripower hybrids up to 30 kW. So you get one brand, one system and one warranty: an inverter and battery designed around each other at the factory, rather than two separate parts that have to get along.

Why we supply SMA

SMA is a German company with a reputation few brands match: the Sunny Boy has been a byword for two decades. What earns it its place with us:

  • A German quality brand — SMA has been developing its inverters in Germany for more than 30 years, with the build quality and lifespan that comes with it.
  • Clever with shade, without extra boxes — SMA ShadeFix uses software to get the most out of a roof with some shade or panels facing different directions, without every panel needing a separate box.
  • Built-in fire safety — ArcFix recognises an arc starting in the installation and shuts the inverter down before anything can happen.
  • Proactive monitoring — with Smart Connected, SMA keeps an eye on your inverter free of charge and reports a fault itself, often before you notice it.
  • Three MPPT inputs — panels on different roof planes or orientations are spread across three separate inputs, so each plane delivers its own yield.
  • Rugged and quiet — IP65 (it can go outdoors), cools without a fan, and reaches over 98% efficiency.

Which SMA do we offer on single-phase?

On single-phase we choose the Sunny Boy Smart Energy — SMA’s hybrid inverter, with the solar inverter and the battery inverter in one cabinet. In four sizes, so there’s always one to suit your home:

  • 3.6 and 4.0 kW — for the ordinary home.
  • 5.0 and 6.0 kW — for the larger roof or higher consumption.

All four have three MPPT inputs and are ready for a home battery. Six kW is the ceiling on single-phase; if you have a three-phase connection or need more power, we look at the three-phase SMAs — they’re below.

And on three-phase — from home to small business

Do you have a three-phase connection, a larger roof or a small business? Then we offer the three-phase SMAs — all hybrid and ready for the SMA home battery. We choose the right one for each situation:

  • Sunny Tripower Smart Energy (5–10 kW) — the compact, proven choice for a normal three-phase home, with backup built in.
  • Sunny Tripower Hybrid X (5–15 kW) — the newer, more versatile inverter: an extra MPPT input for a complex roof, more power, and whole-house backup. For the more demanding home.
  • Sunny Tripower Hybrid X (20–30 kW) — for the large villa or a small business, with four MPPT inputs and room for a substantial battery.

Which it turns out to be, we decide together based on your connection, consumption and roof. On the larger systems we pair the roomier SMA battery (Storage M) — but the principle stays the same: an SMA inverter and an SMA battery, as one system.

Why we always supply SMA with the SMA home battery

This is a deliberate choice on our part. The SMA inverter can work with various high-voltage batteries, but we supply it only together with the SMA home battery (SMA Home Storage) — because that gives you a genuinely matched system rather than two brands that have to talk to each other:

  • Designed and tested as one whole — inverter and battery are the same brand and matched at the factory; nothing has to be “made compatible” afterwards.
  • One warranty, one point of contact — no “the inverter blames the battery and the battery blames the inverter” when a fault comes up. One brand, one phone number.
  • The firmware updates itself — precisely because it’s one brand — because battery and inverter are SMA, the inverter keeps the battery up to date automatically. With a battery from another brand, that firmware often has to be updated by hand — a step that’s easily forgotten and later leads to faults and needless maintenance costs. With this pairing you don’t have that.
  • Seamless backup — thanks to the same brand — the built-in black start works so seamlessly precisely because the battery and inverter are both SMA: if the grid drops out, the battery takes over immediately and your home simply keeps running.
  • A safe, long-lasting battery — the SMA home battery uses LFP cells (the safe lithium chemistry), with a 12-year performance warranty and around 8,000 charge cycles. You expand it modularly in steps of 3.28 kWh, up to over 13 kWh.

Put simply: we could hang a different battery on it, but we deliberately choose the complete SMA system — because the certainty and the peace of mind that gives is exactly what you take SMA for.

The SMA home battery is a high-voltage battery: thinner cables, the battery may sit further from the inverter, and high efficiency. What that means against a low-voltage battery is in Low-voltage or high-voltage home battery.

Who is SMA for?

SMA is for anyone who wants German quality and peace of mind: one brand, one matched system, one app, and a manufacturer that keeps an eye on its own inverter. You’re deliberately choosing a complete, worry-free whole instead of separate parts that have to get along — with the certainty that comes with it.

What we do for you

We’re certified to fit and configure SMA properly, we’ll advise you honestly on whether it suits your home and your plans, and we handle the warranty registration — so every SMA inverter we supply carries 10 years of factory warranty as standard, without you having to do a thing. Want to be covered even longer? On most models that warranty can be extended for an additional cost — to 15 years, and on the single-phase inverter even 20. After that, we and SMA keep an eye on your system together.

Where SMA particularly suits: a roof with some shade or panels facing different ways, since ShadeFix handles that in software without a separate box on every panel; a household that wants the manufacturer itself watching the system and flagging a fault before you notice it; and anyone who would rather have one brand answering for inverter, battery and app together.
